This piece on the Press Gazette details the contents of recent accounts filed by leading UK Newspaper groups, and the headline story is that they are losing money, but at the same rate and on the same revenues as the previous year. Due to the delay in actually filing accounts the information is around twelve months out of date and the situation may have deteriorated recently, but up to the point of these filings the newspapers are not in decline, but are rather maintaining a bad position. Meanwhile they are also investing in digital.
That said, the losses are substantial – e.g. £1m per week at the Times and Sunday Times combined (for the year they lost £51m on revenues of £445m).
Thanks to @iandelaney for the pointer.
