Great post, Nic. A reminder for me to check back in on Calais. (And thanks to Terry for the tip RE: Gerry C moving on from Reuters).

As for Service Cloud, usually "there's fluff in them thar clouds". But the screen shots are killer. Has anyone seen a functioning demo?

While the socialprise concept (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialprise) was initially applied to sales, specifically SFA, a natural extension would be the customer support side of the house (i.e. CRM vs. strictly SFA). Interesting to see where Salesforce takes the Service Cloud concept and how meaningful it will be. Again, that UI is damn sexy, even if I'm not sure how someone would act on the data :o)

There are other shared data services at http://mashery.com/customers/ (where OpenCalais is also listed). Not everything on the list qualifies but a decent number do.

Hi Nic. You can hear more about Open Calais by interacting with @gfcampbell on Twitter. He's moved on from Thompson/Reuters, but was the guy responsible for buying them and open-sourcing it. A very nice guy too, fully informed as to Fluidinfo too :-)
