This is a great post on lessons from Flickr. To summarise:
- great product (this can’t be stressed enough)
- great community management

    Big companies like to buy but they’re seldom willing to learn from the companies they acquire. This may come from an erroneous assumption that because they are bigger (by definition as the acquiror) they are better. It’s a situation almost guaranteed to have the founders of the acquired company leaving after their earn-out.
