TV viewers are accustomed to quickly surfing through channels. I suspect one of the first steps in moving people to IPTV is to offer the instantaneous control that people get from their TV. What will it take to get instant-on and the ability to skim multiple channels in a few seconds?

I read about Swarmcast yesterday which claims to have some good technology for multi-source streaming. I have no connections with them, but it seems like their claims to reduced buffering time could be useful in the aim to shave seconds off a viewer's experience.
