Clothes outsell computers online

Posted by mobile phone:
Americans bought more clothes than computers online last year, according to shop.org, reported in the FT this morning.

Regular readers know I love to hear how ecommerce is taking off, and this shows it is now part of the mainstream.

No surprise either. I made my biggest online clothes purchase last week. £600 on half a dozen items, sent a couple back, brilliant. As a shopping experience it was far better than walking the High St. Thanks Boden.

We could still get a lot better though. conversion rates are only 3% (although I wonder how that compares with traditional retail) and one third of people have problems with their transaction. This is something we see in the affiliate marketing industry where in some cases site conversion is the limiting factor on how many sales we can generate for our customers.

Sent from my mobile, so sorry, no links.
